The book of an outstanding Russian writer, laureate of state prizes, Hero of Socialist Labor Mikhail Nikolayevich Alekseev (1918-2007) included the novel “Cherry White” and the story “Bread – Noun”. This is a kind of artistic chronicle of the fate of the Russian peasantry throughout the whole century: the 1870-1970s. The dramatic fates of the heroes are intertwined with the socio-political shocks of the era: the First World War, the revolution, collectivization, the Great Patriotic War, the revival of the country in the post-war period … The reader cannot but touch the beautiful female images- Frosya-Vishenka from the “Cherry Omut” and the Zhuravushka from the noun name. These works have repeatedly filmed and enjoyed well -deserved success with the audience.
