One of the least known pages of World War II, the Operation “Mars” ended in the failure of a truly tremendous scale. The operation, the purpose of which was to knock out the German army from the bridgehead west of Moscow, cost the Soviet Union the loss of approximately 335 thousand killed, missing and wounded and more than 1,600 tanks. However, in Soviet literature, this battle is not mentioned at all: the historical defeat was hidden by the post -war Stalinist censorship.
In this book, David Glants presents the first one of his kind deteriorated report on a forgotten catastrophe, listing the main troops and describing the events of the Mars operation in detail.
