Zhao Zzyyan and reforms in China: Yuri Galenovich

Zhao Tszyyan in the 1980s. He acted first as the head of government, and then the first in rank of the head of the ruling political party of China. He proposed and carried out his economic reforms. In 1987, at the XIII Congress, the CPC made a program of political reforms. In 1989, he did not agree with the decision of Dan Xiaopin to introduce martial law and suppress the mass peaceful demonstrations with the requirements of freedom and democracy, left the post of Secretary General of the CPC Central Committee. Since 1989, he was kept under house arrest, was deprived of the opportunity to participate in political life. He died in 2005.
