Nathan Yakovlevich Eidelman – historian, literary critic, writer, publicist, whose contribution to Russian historiography of the twentieth century is difficult to overestimate. He left the richest creative heritage – more than 20 books and numerous articles, essays, reviews in the periodical press.
The main field of the scientific interests of N. Ya. Eidelman was the history of Russian culture and social movement of the XVIII-XIX centuries. His books came out hundreds of thousands of copies and instantly sold out. They retain their significance today. The book “Your nineteenth century” equally belongs to both scientific and scientific-popular literature. It tells about the most important events for Russia – the Patriotic War of 1812, the uprising on Senate Square in St. Petersburg, the abolition of serfdom, etc. She introduces readers with outstanding personalities who at different times determined the face of the century, – Pushkin, Herzen, and the Decembrists.
