The novel of the modern German writer Ralph Rotman can be attributed to the traditional genre of realistic prose, which exists the life of the miners in the village of the Ruri region in the second half of the twentieth century, as well as the dramatic events that occurred underground in the depths of the mine. The plot of the action takes place in the course of the course of the family life of one of the miners. His teenage son is an eyewitness to adultery committed by his father. This encourages the boy to repent of his father’s sins in front of the priest. The image of a pure naive teenager, in the soul of which the “young light” is born, is related in the spirit of Russian classical literature and will certainly wake the sympathy of the Russian reader to him. And the episodes associated with the coal mine will cause genuine interest, especially in people related to mining.
