Vasily Pavlovich Shchepetnev (b. 1955), a doctor and a chess player who has been living in Voronezh for many years is one of the best and one of the most silent science fiction writers of our time. It works mainly in the genre of alternative history, and this genre is very popular among the modern reader. Schepetnev’s prose is characterized by the fireworks of gloomy fantasy, the extraordinary fiction and the absolute unpredictability of the plot moves. This collection included, in addition to the six novels of the first part of the “exploits of Detective Arekhin” (read – Alekhina, Shchepetnev as a chess player) the first published story “In Waiting for the Red Army”, as well as for more than ten years, the story “Mars, 1939”. Currently, Shchepetnev is working on a continuation of the adventures of the hero who beloved readers (Alexander Arekhin), and promises to bring the action to 1967.
