“Vinland” was published in 1990 after a huge break, and therefore numerous fans of Pinchon were waiting for this book with impatience and curiosity – whether the “great recluse” would justify their expectations. And of course, opinions were divided. Interestingly, what will the Russian reader say, with no less impatience awaiting the translation of this novel? Time will show. So-“Winland”, a novel covering the temporary space from the free 60s, the era of “children of flowers”, to the gloomy 80s. A novel in which Sura is no less than in the “Rainbow of the Bleading”, and in which the pinchon demonstrated the richest palette – from satire to, oddly enough, lyrics. Traditionally, we warn – reading is not easy, but the pleasure is not comparable.
