Poets walk heels along the blade of a knife –
And they cut their bare souls into the blood!
These lines of Vladimir Vysotsky can be primarily attributed to him. He was not destined to survive even a small collection of poems, while the lines born at night with the speed of sound flew around an immense country. He knew what fame was, but he was not – during his lifetime – a recognized poet. But it was the poet who felt most of all.
This collection is most fully represented by the poetic heritage of Vysotsky.
