The new book of the famous historian Mikhail Zhirokhov is devoted to an unknown war flashing on the fragments of the Soviet Empire in the late 1980s – Karabakh. A protracted bloody conflict between the Armenians and Azerbaijanis left more questions than answers. Today, almost twenty years after the end of the active phase of the armed confrontation, the Karabakh war can hardly be considered complete. Book M.A. Zhirokhov is based on a large array of documentary materials and memoirs of war participants, many of which the author interviewed himself. The analysis of the military confrontation is especially interesting in the work, as well as the study of the use of troops with the warring parties: aviation, artillery, tanks. Much attention is paid to the consideration of the organization and tactics of the Armenian, Azerbaijani and Karabakh troops at different stages of their existence.
