The dictionary describes more than 5,000 synonymous series, including about 30,000 synonymous words. All synonymous rows are distributed in meaning: 15 voluminous semantic groups such as “inanimate nature”, “living nature”, “specific physical activity”, “emotions”, “intellect”, etc., within which 84 classes, 255 groups and 185 subgroups were sequentially identified. Each synonymous series at the same time receives an interpretation in which the meaning is formulated, common to all synonyms of one synonymous series.
In order to make it easier to find a word in the synonymous series, the dictionary has an alphabetical part, where all words are given – members of various synonymous series with an indication of the number of the group that they belong.
The dictionary is addressed to the widest circle of users: schoolchildren, students, teachers of the Russian language of both their native and foreign, journalists, editors, as well as everyone who loves Russian and seeks to brightly, accurately and figuratively express their thoughts.
