The Sannikov Earth is a science fiction novel written by a Russian geologist, a paleontologist, geographer and writer V. A. Obruchev.
The book is based on the legend of the northern peoples about the existence of the mysterious warm land in the Northern Arctic Ocean. The fertile island – an oasis among ice – is covered with forests and meadows in the ring of huge mountains, fossil creatures live here: mammoths, saber -toothed tigers, cave bears and woolly rhinos, primitive tribes live.
In the novel Plutonia, brave researchers penetrate the underground world, where they meet primitive people, as well as the fossil flora and fauna, which have long disappeared from the surface of the earth.
