Notes of Admiral Gennady Ivanovich Nevelsky is one of the most interesting documents setting out a genuine picture of events that occurred in 1849-1855. In the Far East – in the lower Amur, on Sakhalin and the coast of the Tatar Strait, the final existence of which as a strait was proved in 1849 by the author of the book. These events, as you know, ended in 1858 by consolidation under the Aigunsky Treaty with China of a vast, who had not previously belonged to anyone in Russia. Calmly, step by step, with documentary accuracy and truthfulness, which is confirmed in the stories of his associates and other eyewitnesses, sets G. I. Nevelskaya his “history of exploits.” His book is read from beginning to end with unhappy interest.
