And our fighters nicknamed this battle with the “Battle of Thirty -Thirty” ” – it is here that the legendary T -34 production of the Stalingrad Tractor Plant was first used massively. The workers continued to collect and repair the tanks even when the Nazis broke through to the factory passage, where the militias and guards of the NKVD stayed to the last drop of blood. Tank crews often recruited here, on STZ, from volunteers, including women. The “thirty -four” went from the workshops directly into battle by unpainted, sometimes even without sights and triplexs, and lived in the Stalingrad hell a few hours – but at the cost of terrible losses they stopped the enemy at the last line …
