“The village of Stepanchikovo and its inhabitants” is one of the most famous works by Fedor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821-1881). It was in this early story that the writer entered that literary territory where he was destined to gain worldwide glory. The story of a provincial Tyranian, about a marvelous philosopher of a village scale, which is ready to reinstall life around at its discretion, has become the material from which the “Karamazov brothers”, “idiot”, “demons” and other novels will grow later.
