Vsevolod Vladimirovich Ovchinnikov is an international journalist, a writer who has worked in China, Japan, and England for many years. A new direction in domestic journalism is associated with his name – the creation of a psychological portrait of a foreign society.
The author’s creative credo: “To convince the reader that you can’t measure someone else’s life on your arshin, you cannot rely on the usual system of values and criteria, because they are by no means universal, like the grammatical norms of our native language.”
“Sakura branch” and “roots of oak” – were and remain truly a masterpiece of domestic journalism. The amazing brightness and imagery of the language, the amazing depth of penetration into the original world of the English and Japanese national culture captivates the reader and serve as the key to understanding foreign reality. In 1985, the author was awarded the USSR State Prize for these works.
