The young translator Anya passionately dreams of getting married. Relations do not develop with Russian boyfriends in any way, but she is lucky with foreign princes, one of which, the Egyptian Said, soon makes the girl a proposal.
Without thinking twice, Anya married and moves to Alexandria, but family life is far from cloudless. She learns about the existence of an opponent and wants to return home, but her husband does not agree to the export of their common child.
An attempt to secretly leave Egypt ends in failure. Anya understands that she was trapped, and decides on a desperate step. Will they be able to break out, or is it doomed to remain hostage to a loved one for many years?
