Ilya Berkovich, a poet and prose writer, was born in Leningrad, but for almost a quarter of a century he has been living in a small town in Judea, where he has earned a living by binding business. The hero of his story “Rainbow” is a writer who analyzes the notes of a friend of youth, of which the piercing and to the smallest details of the exact memories of the Leningrad outskirts of the 70s of the last century are born. The stories “Freedom” and “The people of the book”, painting the lives of former Soviet people in Canada and Israel, could be called satirical if the author of the author before the abnormality and orphanage of a person in a vast world, which does not and will never deal with the irony, had not been visible through the irony.
