Heinrik Ibsen (1828-1906) – the famous Norwegian playwright, poet and publicist, one of the founders of the European “New Drama”. Many of his plays, such as “Brand”, “Per Gunt”, “Puppet House”, “Ghosts”, “Wild Duck”, are among the best works of world drama.
Ibsen’s innovation in the creation of the “New Drama” was most pronounced in his most famous play “Puppet House”. The focus of her is the drama of a young woman, a mother, who decided to a steep turn in her fate, when she realized that her family happiness is only an illusion based on lies and egoism. Once Nora went on a crime for a loved one in the hope that she would be understood and forgiven and deceived. Nora leaves, realizing that she doomes herself to loneliness, but she is not able to play the role of the happy mistress of the “puppet home” anymore.
