Franz Kafka is one of the largest writers of the twentieth century, the most read and most mysterious, “incomprehensible master and lord of the kingdom of the German language” (Gesse). His works were initially published by void circulations, which also diverged with difficulty. Now they diverge around the world by millions of copies, but Brecht’s remark that Kafka’s work “needs a key, as in secret-painting” remains fair. He created a unique artistic universe, bewitching his own uniqueness, the Universe, where the heroes experience strange adventures, tormented in search of an answer to their ghostly questions.
