This collection includes three famous works of Camus. “Outsider” is a debut story of a young writer, a kind of creative manifesto. The concept of absolute freedom is the main postulate of this manifest. The hero of this story is judged for the murder, which he committed for the most stupid of all possible reasons. And this is the truth that the hero is not afraid to throw in the face of his judges, to go against everything, to forget about all conventions and die in the name of his beliefs. “The myth of Sisyphus” is a philosophical essay in which the author represents the meaningless and endless work of Sisyphus as a metaphor for modern society. Why do we work every day? Who needs it? A daily trip to the service is the same in essence absurd work, as well as a constant attempt to raise a stone into the mountain, with which it will still slide down. “Caligula” is a play dedicated to the Roman emperor, he is not represented in it as a historical character, a cruel tyrant, which ruined thousands of lives, but as an absurd man and a bearer of a metaphysical rebellion. …
