The textbook is a historical and systematic review of the methodology of Western religious studies. The author turns to the works of the classics of world religious studies – Friedrich Max Muller, Robert Mariett, Rudolf Otto, Max Sheler, Gerard -Dus Van der Leuva, Mircea Eliade and others. For the first time in Russian literature, categories, concepts and methods of modern Western religious studies are introduced into scientific and educational circulation. Particular attention is paid to methodological discussions that unfolded in the religious studies of the second half of the XX century.
The textbook is intended for students and graduate students specializing in the field of religious studies and related areas of humanitarian knowledge.
