This publication tells about the life of the Englishman Charles Sydney Gibbs (1876-1963) – the English teacher of children of Emperor Nicholas II and the mentor of Tsarevich Alexei. For ten years of ministry at the court of the Russian emperor, Gibbs turned into a trustee of the family of Nicholas II. Having passed the difficult path to the Orthodox faith, he became a priest and made a noticeable contribution to the spread of Orthodoxy in the UK.
The publication included two books about Charles Gibbs, written by the English authors John Trevin and Francis Welch, the diaries of Charles Gibbs, which he kept from the beginning of the First World War, his letters from Tobolsk, the memories of the royal family, written in the 30-40s of the XX century.
Extensive comments and applications included in this publication will help readers to most fully submit certain historical events, as well as to get acquainted in more detail with the biography of persons mentioned in the text.
