The new novel by Olesya Nikolaeva “Patron” is written in the form of a detective. The investigation of the murder of the governor of the monastery allows you to observe not only the life of the restored monastery from different sides, but also the diverse paintings of modern Russian reality, with its paradoxes, myths and conspiracy stories. The main suspect is in the center of the story – the philanthropist, an architect, a successful entrepreneur who has gone to the monks. In the novel, as in life, tragic and comic, sublime and small, genuine and crafty are intertwined. Nevertheless, the author consistently writes out the novel as a story of love leading a person to God.
