Finding the manuscript of the novel in the box of the old table, David Kern could not overcome the temptation and appropriated authorship. First of all, he wanted to impress Marie – a girl that he really liked – and did not expect at all that his game would go so far: fame, money, adoration of readers, endless interviews and autograph sessions. It never occurred to anyone that David is just an impostor who is most afraid that the real author of the novel would appear.
With every step, he moves himself away from the line when it was possible to be outplayed, to admit everything and become himself again. He understands that the reckoning is inevitable, and he can only hope that the price of his act will not be too high.
