Ten years ago, the Publishing House of the Decum published the memoirs of Mikhail Ilyich Romm in the form in which they were dictated by the director on the magnetic tape. As a result of the painstaking work done by the publishing house, unknown stories and episodes excluded by censorship were included in the book. But this book is not a reprint of the book “Like in Cinema.” It is significantly supplemented by fragments from the personal diaries of the director’s wife, actress Elena Alexandrovna Kuzmina, who had never been published before. They were transferred to the publishing house by the heirs of Romm and Kuzmina and, in combination with the memoirs of the director, give this “documentary novel” a new dimension and depth. Also, a significant number of photos from the personal archive of Mikhail Romm and Elena Kuzmina were added to the book.
