The book of the famous Soviet writer, laureate of the State Prizes of the USSR and the RSFSR named after M. Gorky Anatoly Stepanovich Ivanov (1928-1999) included four stories, permeated for him by an aggravated attitude to the socio-moral issues of modernity in its inconsistent unity with the heroic history of the country. In all these works, the high principles of socialist humanism are affirmed in a harsh and irreconcilable struggle against evil. The story “Life on the sinful land” in 1973 was filmed, director Semyon Tumanov, in the main roles: Anatoly Kuznetsov, Lidia Smirnova, Larisa Luzhina.
