Letters from Lukomorye: Poems: Alena Baban

Alena Baban was born in the city of Kashira near Moscow; Lives in Moscow. Graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Moscow State Pedagogical University. It was printed in the magazines “Arion”, “Volga”, “Day and Night”, “Children of Ra”, “Interpoesia”, “Khreshchatyk”, “Kukumber”, “Literary Study”, “Man on Earth”, “Homo Legens”. The book included selected poems written in 2003-2013.
The poetics of A. Baban is characterized by a combination of active formal search and classical tradition. The images and rhythm of the folk verse, folklore and fabulous motifs organically coexist with the realities and vocabulary of today. Exceptional musicality and semantic depth of Baban’s poetry allow it to talk about it as one of the best modern Russian poets.
