Language. From meaning to text: Igor Melchuk

The book contains a brief outline of the linguistic theory of meaning-text with illustrations taken (mainly, but not only) from the Russian language. Chapter 1 sets out the three main postulates of the approach, the meaning-text: the natural language is the correspondence between meanings and texts; The description of the language should be performed in the form of its functional model; The description of the language should be stratified: semantics (meaning) – syntax (phrase) – morphology (word) – sound (phonology).
