The theme of this book is the Russian religious painting of the second half of the XIX – early XX centuries, represented by the names of outstanding artists: A. Ivanova, N. Ge, M. Vrubel, I. Kramsky, V. Vasnetsov, M. Nesterov and others. As illustrations, the publication includes not only the paintings and drawings of these wonderful masters, but also the mosaic and frescoes of a number of temples in Kyiv and Moscow created by them. The author’s conversation about them is not entirely familiar to the reader, bribing a sensitive and respectful interest in religious themes in art.
