In the 2nd edition of the monograph, a strategic approach to the formation of a modern image of Russia is more fully represented: the main goals and prospects of image policy are determined, the basic idea of a new image, its main communicators, and the instrumentation of national and territorial branding are formulated. The authors emphasize that the success of Russian foreign policy today largely depends on the skillful use of the resources of “soft power” – symbolic capital of culture, political values and meanings concentrated in the new image of Russia. Heads have been added in a comparative analysis of the Western and Eastern experience in the formation of national and territorial branding.
