The collection presents the most significant works of the Hero of the Patriotic War of 1812, one of the inspirers and organizers of the partisan movement in the rear of the Napoleonic troops Denis Vasilievich Davydov (1784-1839). His small poetic heritage created him the glory of one of the most striking poets of the Pushkin Pore, and remarkably interesting and instructive “military notes” and brilliant literary portraits of A.V. Suvorova, M.I. Kutuzova, M.F. Kamensky, P.I. Bagration, Y.P. Kulnev, N.N. Raevsky, A.P. Ermolov and other outstanding contemporaries – one of the brightest prose writers of his time.
