Peter Abelior – one of the most enlightened people of his time – remained in historical memory in the role of a sad lover. The sad story of Abelar and Eloise long before the Shakespearean Romeo and Juliet became an example of unhappy love, which was inspired by many poets, writers, artists. Already in the Middle Ages, songs sang about them and composed ballads. We know about the life of Abelar from his beautiful autobiography “The History of My Gounses”, which has entered the real collection in the best translation today. The publication also includes two of the most significant philosophical treatises, giving an idea of the peculiar thinking of the author, who was respectfully called the second Aristotle during his life.
