The headlines of Palm City newspapers shouted about a brutal crime – a police officer died under the wheels of a car. Chester Scott, a law -abiding citizen, has a good reason to fear that suspicion will first fall on him. He takes on his own investigation of this “road accident”, but the facts contradict each other and do not develop into a single whole. The vague feeling that he had been framed, scottes in the wake of criminals. The inevitable death overtakes everyone from whom he manages to get at least some information. With each new fact, a picture of a crime and those who stand behind him emerge before Scott.
