“Frankenstein, or modern Prometheus” appeared after Lord Byron in 1816 offered his guests, eighteen -year -old Mary, her future husband Persia Shelley, the doctor and writer John Polydori, to compose a “supernatural” story. The novel, the plot of which Mary Shelley appeared in the nightmare, was first anonymously published in 1818, and in 1831 it was reprinted under the real name of the author. The first science fiction work in the world literature and the incomparable classic of the Gothic genre withstood many adaptations, from 1910 to the last film in 2014.
