The book presents the anthological samples of the poetic heritage of Irish Filides and Bard, starting from the first surviving works dating from the end of the VI-VII centuries. Translations are accompanied by the parallel publication of originals and comments that clarify their cultural and historical context. Created in Old Irish, the texts reached us in manuscripts no earlier than the beginning of the 21st century. And the next time. Therefore, many poems reflect the features of the Central Irish language with interspersed with archaic vocabulary and grammatical forms. Separate texts included in the published selection appeared in the X-XII centuries. They are stylized under ancient samples and are attributed to the legendary poets of the previous period. The design of the book uses ornamental motifs and fragments of miniatures characteristic of medieval Irish manuscripts.
The book is addressed to a wide range of readers interested in poetry and the history of culture, in particular Irish.
