Fazil Iskander is a living classic of Russian and Abkhaz literature. Among the many of his awards are the USSR State Prize and Andrei Sakharov Prize “For Courage in Literature”. Iskander’s prose is distinguished by a sparkling temperament, aphorism, courageous humor and that special spiritual and moral space, in which human life is affirmed by absolute value.
The real edition included two novels of the writers – the famous “Valtasar’s Feasts”, which became available to the Russian reader only with the fall of the iron curtain, and the “manage of man” – a piercing, alarming and at the same time amazingly life -affirming story, full of humor and bright images. Different in mood and rhythm, these novels are united by the topic of savings and confrontation between the human person in the conditions of a totalitarian state.
