You hold in your hands a book by the famous sports figure Vladimir Slavsky.
He was in sports for more than 45 years and 18 of them was the president of the skiing Federation of skiing with a springboard and skiing biases, 15 years old – a member of the FIS Committee on Ski -Breed.
The book begins with the words: “In order to live well, we must work.” This simple thought, the basis of the whole book and life of the author himself. He talks about himself, about the history of jumps and biases, about the successes of Russian athletes, about the difficulties in the sports movement, which began after the collapse of the USSR.
He recalls sports meetings between the athletes of the island of Hokkaido and the Far East. He writes with enthusiasm about the successes of German athletes, led by their wonderful coach Reinhard Hess and proudly says that modern skiing skiing in Russia was built in the city of Tchaikovsky and Nizhny Tagil, St. Petersburg and of course in Sochi. And that large international ski jumping competitions began to be held in Russia …
