The collection of works of the International Scientific Conference “Charles Darwin and Modern Biology”, held on September 21-23, 2009 in St. Petersburg, is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of C. Darwin and the 150th anniversary of his famous book “The Origin of Species”. The collection discusses the theoretical and historical and scientific problems of modern evolutionary biology, the nature and degree of influence of C. Darwin’s ideas on the development of science and society in the XIX-XX centuries, as well as the key role that the evolutionary theory continues to play in search of answers to new challenges of the 21st century. Each article is equipped with a Russian and English resume.
