Remi de Gourmon (1858-1915) belongs to the galaxy of French decadents and is almost not known to today’s reader. The book of masks is the luxurious panorama of the literature of France in the late XIX – early twentieth century, which had a huge impact on Russian Symbolists, whose work is inseparable from the aesthetic searches of French predecessors. Portraits of fifty -three writers and poets written in a light, in a living language, including P. Verlaine, M. Meterlink, E. Verkharn, S. Mallarme, A. Rimbo, serve as an excellent introduction to French literature and open a lot of new names to the modern reader.
The book goes to the 100th anniversary of the first Russian publication.
