The book of memoirs of Maxim Gorky – Alexei Maksimovich Peshkov (1868-1936), one of the most famous writers of the 20th century, included his “notes from the diary” (a truly unique set of Russian characters – from the intellectual to the philosophizing tramp, from the revolutionary to the Yarny monarchist), the famous literary portraits of A.P. Chekhov, L. N. N. N. Tolstoy, L. N. Andreev, V. G. Korolenko, S. A. Yesenin, S. T. Morozov, V. I. Lenin (an essay on him is published in the first edition – without the later layers of the “textbook gloss”), as well as the launched of the October Revolution “untimely thoughts”.
