The monograph traces the evolution of the nineteenth century in the nineteenth century.
It presents essays dedicated to the least studied novels of Cooper, Gornov, Melville, Twain, James, Adams, Norris, London. The works of Orest Browson, Lydia Maria Child and John Pendleton Kennedy, unknown to us, are analyzed.
