American dream of a Russian sectarian: Leo Simkin

The book first reveals the missed dramatic pages of the Russian history of the twentieth century, associated with the mass emigration of dissidents to the American continent. The search for materials in foreign archives made it possible to talk about the little -known travels of sectarians from Russia to America and vice versa. The author found the direct participants of some of the described events and recorded their stories about the recent past, including the fate of the “Siberian Seven” – believers from Khakassia who spent five years locked up in the basement of the American embassy in Moscow, about the participation of Academician Sakharov in the struggle for religious freedom. A talentedly written and very instructive story about how the power of faith overcomes the dominance of unrighteous power.
