The heroine of Roman Nina Kornilina receives from the owners of the Paris Gallery an invitation to come and present at the exhibition the work of her husband Arthur Kornilin, who died under strange circumstances. Reading the diaries of the artist, Nina begins to suspect with horror that Arthur had a mental illness before his death. The “vision of a rose” seemed especially terrible to her, so she called the sketch of the future painting “Magic” with a black rose in the center. Before his death, Nina sees in a dream a black man who pursued her husband. And this is not the last murder. All crimes are mysteriously connected with the secret of the Florentine medallion, which was made by the famous medieval jeweler and alchemist as a gift to his beloved.
