The collection is based on the materials of the International Conference, held on October 22-25, 2006, dedicated to the centenary of the death of academician A.N. Veselovsky (1838-1906), one of the luminaries of Russian philological science, a wonderful teacher and a brilliant translator. The first section of the collection contains articles characterizing various aspects of the academician and its significance for domestic culture up to the present day, as well as a number of studies developing some of his observations and ideas. In the second section, sketches and publications are concentrated, covering individual episodes of the scientist’s life, relations with colleagues, students, friends, family and family ties. For the first time, an article by A.N. Veselovsky about Czech literature.
For literary critics, linguists, historians and ethnographers, all interested in the history of science and culture.
