“Alexander Nevsky”: the creation of a movie masterpiece. Historical study: Krivosheev, Sokolov

The movie “Alexander Nevsky”, created by S.M. Eisenstein in 1938, largely predetermined the perception of the Soviet, and then Russian society of the image of the Old Russian prince up to the present. The historical conditions in which the shooting of the picture was conducted, work on the script, its discussion and participation in this discussion of professional historians, coverage of filming, as well as the subsequent rental of the tape in the Soviet press – all these subjects were examined in detail by the authors of the book based on archival and published sources, periodical materials, as well as historiography.
