Mikhail Vasilievich Nesterov (1862-1942) belongs to the number of outstanding Russian artists of the late XIX – early XX centuries. His paintings are “Hermit”, “Vision of the Podsoka Bartholomew”, “Great Tonsure” and many others are recognized as classic samples of domestic painting. The brilliant landscape painter and portrait painter, Nesterov devoted the last years of his life to work on memoirs, which discovered the writer’s undoubted talent in the painter. The best of these memoirs have entered the real edition. Unusually lively, light and fascinating stories and essays in the first person will tell the reader about the author’s childhood, his creative formation, the immediate environment and outstanding meetings with famous contemporaries, including representatives of several generations of artists (V. G. Perov, V. M. Vasnetsov, I. I. Levitan), actors and singers (A. R. Artemyev, J. Devyud, F. I. I. I. I. I. Chaliapin), writer M. Gorky and scientist I.P. Pavlov.
