Works and letters. In 2 volumes: Ivan Pushchin

Two circumstances entered the name of Ivan Ivanovich Pushchin into the history of our Fatherland – friendship with Pushkin and belonging to the movement of the Decembrists. “My first friend, my friend is invaluable,” Pushkin said about him, accurately determining the place of Pushchin in his life. “Diamond among the Decembrists” called him exiled Polish revolutionaries. For the state power of Nikolaev Russia, he was a “criminal”, “rebel”.
Volume 1 includes “Notes about Pushkin” and “Letters of 1816-1849”.
Volume 2 contains letters for 1850-1859. In the epistolary heritage of the Decembrist, these letters are the most saturated in content. They highlighted the reaction of Pushchin and his like -minded people to the events of the era: the Petrashevtsy case, the defeat of the Russian army in the Crimean war, the death of Nicholas I. Letters of the last years of life Pushchin already in European Russia – the most important source for studying the landowner in the middle of the century. They also reveal the story of the creation of a pearl of memoir Pushkinian – his “Notes on Pushkin.”
