Karl von Botmer is a retired royal Prussian Major, a representative of the Supreme High Command at the German diplomatic mission in Moscow, a journalist, a public and politician.
The book published his diaries made from April 19 to October 22, 1918, which are an interesting evidence of one of the most vague, anxious and unstable periods in Russian history. Objectivity, political and social vigilance, accurate, often ruthless characteristics of Russian and German public figures made the Botmer diary an interesting historical monument.
Botmer complemented the memoir part with various documents.
