Who commanded the Soviet partisans: Alexander Dyukov

Throughout the Great Patriotic War, Soviet partisan detachments continuously grew and multiplied, attacked enemy garrisons, conducted daring raids, and exploded echelons going to the front. The detachments included both the Red Army and civilians, who had never previously taken up weapons, and more or less trained special services. They almost had no weapons – except for the one that they managed to get from the enemy and which, like medicines, was catastrophically lacking. But the partisans did not give up and fought. The struggle, which became a visual evidence of the unprofitable folk spirit, set an example for the population of the occupied areas and brought victory closer. The scope of the partisans was such that subsequently partisanism began to be perceived in the West as one of the elements of a specific Soviet style of warfare.
