White and black storks for many years have been the heroes of the photographer-naturalist Nikolai Spilen. Some pairs he watched for more than one summer.
The birds turned out to be so different: some – white – are open to people, live with us side by side, take out the chicks, fly and fly away before our eyes. It is difficult to find a person who does not imagine what a white stork looks like. They bring us babies and are considered a symbol of marital fidelity. Others – black – are hidden from prying eyes so much that finding a nest in forest dull thickets is a whole science. They are afraid of a person, as if they do not expect anything good from him. But both the White and the Black, Nikolai, was able to see the main thing: an ordinary bird’s life. She is just invisible to most people.
A bilateral photo album is entirely devoted to these graceful and beautiful birds of Russia.
